Manchester United is all set to make its preparations for the upcoming season. As per Sky Sports, permission has been granted to United to have a talk with Raphael Varane for switching to Old Trafford. However, the reports also state that Varane is in talks with the Paris Saint-Germain. Last week, Paris Saint-Germain signed Sergio Ramos, who was the former captain of Real Madrid.
Raphael Varane, 28, has only one year left on the contract with Real Madrid. However, Varane has turned down a new deal offer at the Bernabeu. Reports say that he is happy to wait for one more season before completing the potential transfer to United.
The Spanish giants are willing to make Varane stay. However, they have allowed him to speak to PSG and United. As Varane is serving the final year of the Real Madrid contract, it gives an opportunity to United to enter into negotiations with him. He has all freedom to sign any kind of pre-contract agreement with a club in January.
The fees have not been agreed upon. United seems to wary about the repetition of the situation of Sergio Ramos in 2015 when they made a move only for Ramos to sign a contract for Real Madrid.
United hopes for the best
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is excited to bring Raphael Varane and partner him with Harry Maguire. United are expecting to increase the strength of their squad by ensuring a number of key signings during this summer. In the last season of the Premier League, Manchester United finished second. However, they had lost in the final of the Europa League.
The United have agreed on a deal for Jadon Sancho, who is the ace of England. The deal is worth 73 million Euros. Jadon Sancho was a part of Borussia Dortmund.
Varane is now one of the best defenders in the world. He has played for Real Madrid for a long period of 10 years. He has successfully won three LaLiga titles, four Champion Leagues, and one Copa del Rey. He was a part of the winning squad of the World Cup of France in 2018.
Reports mention that Manchester United are quite close to agreeing on personal terms with Raphael Varane. However, it can be considered as a stumbling block that the United needs to overcome as the player is looking out for a new challenge after giving his 10 years to Madrid.
